Kusumi Koharu was born July 15, 1992 in Nagaoka, Niigata, Japan. She is a singer, dancer, and actress under the production company "Hello! Project." She is part of Japans top idol group, Morning Musume (Morning Daughter). She joined the group in 2005 when she was 12 years old becoming the youngest age any member has been when they entered the group, surpassing the previous holder, Niigaki Risa. She joined under the leader ship of Yoshizawa Hitomi and sub-leader, Fujimoto Miki. Koharu was the only "Lucky 7" 7th generation member. She joined after the graduation of the last 1st generation member Iida Kaori and 4th generation Ishikawa Rika.
Her first single with Morning Musume was "Iroppi Jetterai" (Sexy Impatience) and has since been in 14 singles. In 2006, Koharu was cast as Tsukishima Kirari in the anime show "Kirarin Revolution", also known as KiraRevo, KiraRebo, and Kirarin. The show is about Kirari, a 15 year old who is struggling to become an idol in Japan just for the love of a boy. It was a lot like her life at that moment, since she had just become an idol and was on her own journey. Yoshizawa Hitomi made a guest appearance as herself on the show, right before she graduated. Kirarin Revolution had many live concerts, cd's, and groups with the show. Making Koharu the youngest soloist to debut in Hello! Project. Early 2009, the show had its final epsiode and concert, declaring the end of KiraRevo.
Not that it set back Koharu's fame. Morning Musume is now getting national fame. Having performed their first US soil (non Hawaii) concert in July of 2009, Morning Musume's song are now appealing to all countries and they are on the rise to fame in the US. Sadly, announced in September, Koharu has left Momusu on their 41st single. She'll be pursuing an acting and solo career. She's currently in training and officially graduated from both Momusu. and Hello! Project December of 2009. Having spent only 4 years as a member. She currently has a recurring weekly spot as guest co-host on OHA Star. She has gotten the spot of a five minute "Navigator" on Niigata TV on her own show titled "GAO!". Every Wednesday and Thursday.
